ACT
The ACT is required at most colleges and Universities in the state of Utah. Juniors take one free ACT in March each year. Seniors are strongly encouraged to take the ACT sometime in September, or October, so they can receive results in time for December 1st college admissions and academic scholarship deadlines.

SAT/PSAT
The SAT helps college admissions officers make admission decisions. Combined with a student’s academic record, it is an indicator of college success. The SAT tests the subject matter learned by students in high school and how well they apply that knowledge—the critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in college.

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a test given to Juniors and *Sophomores each October that provides practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools. *Only Juniors qualify for the scholarship competition. The PSAT/NMSQT measures: Critical reading skills, Math problem-solving skills, & Writing skills.

ASVAB
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military career. The ASVAB is typically given in January or February at AFHS.
